GUESS WHO?

I can't (and won't) tell you nothin' about this no matter how much you beg.

All I'm sayin' is that me and Sean 'Cheeks' Galloway had a lot of fun coming up with some ideas a buncha months ago.

Nothin' ended up happening with those ideas...

But fun is fun, ya'll.

Man, can that Cheeks kid draw or what?

NEW SOOPER PAL!

I'd often heard his name bandied about.

Especially by his fellow Art Institute of Philadelphia alumni Maxwell Atoms (Billy and Mandy) and Greg Miller (Whatever Happened to Robot Jones).

And just like those two... he's had his own show:

Uh huh...

Yes...

A show that never got as much attention as it deserved...

Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!

So now you know I'm talking about Ciro Nieli, right?
We friended over at the ol' Facebook thing and later realized we grew up in the same part of Northern Philadelphia!

We even went to the same comic shop!
R&B Comics in Montgomeryville---
Man, I used to love that old comic book smell when you walked into that place!

Anyway, we decided to grab some lunch and chat about cartoons, skateboarding, his parent's pizza place and a thousand other things.

And, of course...

I got him to draw me something:

ROCKIN'!

Mr. Nieli's got a TON of sooper amazing stuff in the works that I can only tell you about if I promise to kill myself. And I'm waaaaaaaay too busy to kill myself so you'll just have to keep it locked to see what he's got in store for ya'll!

It'll be worth the wait!

RIPPLE

We don't have to feel helpless.
We can help.
Our small actions together will ripple outward.

That's the mantra written on illustrator Kelly Light's new blog that she's created as a way to help the animal victims of the Deep Water Horizon Gulf Oil Spill.

"But sooper handsome Mr. Warburton," you say, "How can a blog help clean up animals soaked in oil by irresponsible corporations?"

Answer: SKETCH CARDS!

Uh huh...

Hundreds of fine folk have been drawing, painting, gluing, pasting, charcoaling and doing who knows what else to little sketch cards and then posting them up on the Ripple blog.

And each one...

Every one...

Is selling for ten bucks.

$10!!!

Take a looksie here at some of my favorites:

Fun, right? And ANYONE can post one. You don't have to be famous. You don't have to be an illustrator, graphic designer, cartoonist or anything.
All you have to do is want to help.
And, of course, make a card!
Then e-mail a scan of it along with a little bio of yourself and maybe some words about how this whole yucky spill thing is making you feel. And there ya go:

You're in!

But okay... so you don't want to make a card.
Why not buy one?

They're only ten bucks each and will look great on your wall.
Believe me.
I've seen the art you've got hanging around your house.
Yuck.

Aaaaaaaaand better still...
every dime... every dollar... goes to The Institute of Marine Animal Studies and The International Bird Rescue Research Center.

So what did I do?
You know me...
I'm a pain in the butt so I made THREE cards that'll be sold as a set.
Check it out:

Sorry it's so small.... I can't seem to get blogger to make it any bigger.
(suggestions, oh ye blogger geniuses out there?)
If ya click it you'll get a better look.

Rumour has it that my cards are going up on July 1st!
First come, first served!
And I hear another rumour that July will have some pretty awesome cards coming up by folks like Jarret J. Krosoczka and Sean "Cheeks" Galloway.

So then... on your way.

Make that ripple spread as far as it'll go HERE. And check back often!
New cards go up EVERY DAY!

MUSIC TO MY EARS!

Today, for your listening pleasure, I present to you the musically mighty Goldenflither's piano rendition of the Kids Next Door theme song:

Apparently, with over 36,000 views, it's been around a while but this is the first I time I heard it- and I LOVES it! But what do I know about music?

Answer: NOT MUCH!

So I went to KND's musical mastermind...
The Conductor of Chaos...
The Orchestrator of Awesomeness...
The one and only...

Numbuh 1/4 Note!
(aka Steve Rucker)

And I asked him whether this arrangement of his masterpiece (that he created with Mr. Tom Chase) was the musical equivalent of awesomesauce. And he said--

YES! It is!
And a worthy tribute to the KND theme!

So there you have it, music lovers!

They had this sign out front last week.
But don't worry...
It was written with kidatonic ink-- invisible to adults!

OH CAPTION! MY CAPTION!

Don't forget to go HERE and come up with a caption for this photo of me and Mr. Bob Boyle:

And the host of this contest, one Lisa Yee, just pointed out that Fuse #8 aka Betsy Bird aka the highly influential head of the NY Public Library's Children's Room posted this about the contest:

The time has come, the walrus said, to talk of many things. Like shoes and ships and sealing wax and Lisa Yee’s 75th (ish) Annual Bodacious Book Contest. Every year author Lisa Yee (she of the aforementioned fun covers) has a photo caption contest ah-going. This year is no different and the photo in question features one of my favorite fellows, Mr. Warburton. I hear lovely things about his partner in photo crime, Bob Boyle, as well. Animators. Gotta love ‘em. In any case, give the pic a looksee and then tell Lisa what it should say. It’s like the New Yorker caption contest, only with 95% less shark-related images.

I like being referred to as a "favorite fellow".

I really do.

So why not become one of my favorite fellows (or fellinas) and go make a caption?

The prizes (and secret celebrity judges) are listed on Lisa's blog today...
And you can bet I'll throw a signed copy of 1000 Times No into the kitty!
(Hopefully the kitty won't throw it up)

YEE OLDE CAPTION CONTEST

I've mentioned Lisa Yee before, right?

Yeah... over HERE.

She's a sooper cool authoress who's written some pretty cool stuff.

Like this:

And this:

Yeah, this too:

She also likes to run all over the world taking pictures of her best friend Peepy.

Who's Peepy?

This is Peepy:

He kinda gets around.

And somehow, he got in my shoe while Bob Boyle looked on:

Funny picture, right?

Think you could come up with a caption for it?

You can?

Well, Lisa doesn't think so. She's even holding a contest with sooper secret celebrity judges to prove that you can't.

But you can prove her WRONG!

Head on over to her blog to participate in her caption contest. She dares ya!
If you do you might win valuable prizes worth I have no idea what.

Think you've got what it takes?

Then go HERE and get captioning!

1000 TIMES NICK!

1000 Times FINALLY!

Back before 1000 Times No came out, me, Dave Rasura, and our cronies at Curious Pictures made this cute little promo for the book:

Well, shortly afterwards, an exec I knew at Nick Jr. called me up and said, "I saw your book at a store in Brooklyn and it's really cute. Have you thought of animating it?"

And I said, "No... I haven't. But give me 5 minutes and I'll see what I can do."

Five minutes later I sent her the promo we did.
She thought it rocked pretty hard and suggested we do a longer version to air on Nick Jr.

So me, Mr. Rasura and crew went at it and came up with a sooper fun 1:48 version.

Wanna see it?
Then tune in to Nick Jr. TOMORROW June 9th
11:54am for you East Coasters
and 8:54 for us lazy West Coasters!

OH NO!

There are sooooooooo many reasons to hate author/illustrator/show creator/pizza chef/underwear model Dan Santat.

I mean besides the fact that he's rooting for the Chicago Blackhawks when everyone knows the Philadelphia Flyers are eleventy hundred times cooler.

Or the fact that he eats the books of his competitors to make himself more powerful:

And while those are perfectly great reasons to hate him... here's the latest:

Have you sen this book yet?
It's written by sooper genius strongman for hire Mac Barnett...
(Billy Twitters and his Blue Whale Problem and Guess Again)
illustrated by the Santat guy...
it just came out...
and don't tell him I said it, but...

IT'S AMAZING!

His best work yet.
I predict an Oscar.
And when the mighty mighty folks at Kirkus Reviews heard I liked it they said this:

A must have?

I think I must have it for breakfast if I'm ever going to become as powerful as this guy! Bnd I know some of you are saying,

"C'mon, Mr. Warburton! Can't you give us ONE more reason to hate Dan Santat? Pleeeease?!"

You're darn skippy I can. Check out this awesome book trailer:

So go on...

GET IT!
