WILLEMS AND WARBURTON IN NORTHAMPTON, MA

Hey.

Whatcha doin'?

No.
Not right now.
Whatcha doin' on October 7th?

Nothin'?
Well, why dontcha come on out to Northampton, Massachusetts?

'Cause Mr. Willems and I are gonna be at the Odyssey Bookshop
to promote this thing we wrote together:

Check it:

Odyssey Kids! Presents
an activity & signing with Mo Willems and Tom Warburton.

Mo & Tom will lead an activity from their new book and then sign books.
The Pigeon really, really wants to finish this
activity book! But that pesky Duckling keeps getting in the way. Oh, and
there's someone new on the scene causing all kinds of problems....
Follow the Bus Driver's lead as you write, color, draw, create--even build an
airport!--in this fun-filled book starring the Pigeon and YOU!

There's more details on the Odyssey Bookshop website,
but they've neglected to mention the abnormally high levels of
awsomosity guests will be exposed to.

Wear at least 60 spf awesome-screen.

If you can't make it,
DON'T WORRY!
You can always just order the book,
close your eyes,
and pretend Mo and I are there with you.

I LIED!

Remember when I told you that one of the greatest things
about my epic sketchbook of awsomosity was that I didn't do
any of the drawings?
Well, I kinda lied.
Because there are a couple drawings
that I done did.
Like this:
That's one of the original publicity drawings for Nickelodeon's Doug.
I was an assistant layout artist on the show
(my second job in the industry!)
and I cleaned this drawing up for
sooper rockin' layout artist Dave Concepcion.
Six million years later,
I run into Simon Deitch,
someone I worked with on the show,
and he hands me that drawing.
When Doug was all done and Jumbo pictures was cleaning house,
he found the drawing in the trash and figured I might want it.
How right he was!
And check this out:
That's a watercolor test I did for the end credits of the KND pilot.
It's just a xerox on crappy xerox paper that I painted on,
but it got the effect I wanted.
It's fun finding that kinda stuff.

PART TWO: ULTIMATE EPIC SKETCHBOOK BOOGALOO!

Hopefully you've had time to come down from
the excessive levels of awesomeness you were exposed to
in my last post.
I mean, normal humans just aren't used to seeing that
many amazing drawings jammed into one sketchbook.
So I had to break it up into two posts.
For your own safety.
Shall we begin with this Camp Lazlo sketch by
Mr. Joe Murray?
Joe rocks pretty hard.
So does Mike Kunkel.
He drew Hero Bear for me:

And don't deny that you love this
hunka
hunka
Johnny Bravo by Van Partible:

Check out this gorgeous rough drawing
from one of indy animator Pat Smith's films:

Alex Soto rocked this Ben 10 Four Arms sketch for me:

Remember Juniper Lee?
I cornered Judd Winnick at Comicon
and had him kick this:

Also in the
GIRLS THAT KICK BUTT department
is this Kim Possible sketch by
character design rock star Stephen Silver:

I even got me some
My Gym Partner is a Monkey
by Tim and Julie Cahill:

And last but not least,
I've got this Chowder drawing by C.H. Greenblatt:

What's even cooler is that nowadays I get to work
with Carl every day on Fish Hooks!

So how's that for an epic sketchbook?!
I'm not sure why, but over the last 5 years or so
I've just had artists draw a page in my current sketchbook
instead of having them do it on a separate piece of paper I can plug into this book.
So it's not really filling up anymore.
But that might not be a bad thing.
I mean, I'm not sure this book...

 ...can handle much more
awesomosity.

SKETCHBOOK LEVEL: EPIC!!!

I've filled a lot of sketchbooks.
See?

But there's one that's taken me forever to fill up.
It's this one:

Sure, it looks plain and nondescript.
But in reality it's my

MOST AWESOME
GIHOOGICLY EPIC
SKETCHBOOK
EVER!

I'm serious.

I'm like,
Miley serious, ya'll.
It's like
THAT!

And you know why this sketchbook is
SO GOOD?

SO AWESOME?

SO BLOCK ROCKIN'?

Because I didn't draw a thing in it.
Nope...
This sketchbook is reserved for
stuff like this:

OMG!
OMG!
OMG!

That's an original sketch of Dexter and Dee Dee
that Genndy Tartakovsky drew for me when I was working on
my first Cartoon Network pilot,

There's also this:

That's The Justice Friends drawn by none other than
character designer/art director/sooper triple nice guy,

But wait...
There's more:

That's Sheep from Sheep In The Big City
drawn by the mighty Mo Willems
before he realized how awesome I was!

You've seen this already:

That's Stewie by Seth MacFarland himself.
But I already told you about that over HERE.

You also saw this BEAUTIFUL
Craig McCracken Powerpuff sketch before:

I posted about that over HERE.

But I don't think I showed you this:

That's a drawing from the first season of Beavis and Butthead
complete with notes from Mike Judge!
(Huh huh... He said, "Butt not so wide")

Here's one from sooper pal Maxwell Atoms:

What's so ridiculous about this is that I had to buy it at the
ASIFA-EAST USED ANIMATION ART AUCTION
because I could never get Mr. Atoms to draw one for me.
He would always say he was going to...
and then never get around to it.
Whadda jerk!

I lurves this drawing from MTV's The Maxx.
Not sure who drew it, though.
It came from a recycle bin at Rough Draft Studios:

Feel free to scream like a girl if you love this Samurai Jack
by the aforementioned Paul Rudish:

Robot Jones,
By the illustrious Mr. Greg Miller.

And pardon me while I show off my Spongebob:

Sweet, right?

Here's another Beavis and Butthead drawing,
this one from the show opening:

Nerds rejoice,
Because Megas XLR is in the house!

This one is from Megas XLR, too:

I can't remember if Jody Schaeffer or George Krstic did this.
(the signature doesn't help)
All I know is that he claimed he couldn't draw but would try his best.
AND I LOVE IT!

So are you convinced this is the
ULTIMATE
in sketchbooks?

What if I told you there was
MOAR?!

Check back next post for...

Macho Man Randy Savage?!?

during my sooper fun tenure at
J.J. Sedelmaier Productions.

Right?
So why not check out the KND on Tumblr?!

ALRIGHT!
I like

There's so much amazing KND fan art
out there I wanna karate chop
some evil adult sooper villains
